FOR MISSOULA CITY COUNCIL WARD 6 RE-ELECTION

PROTECTING YOUR TAX DOLLARS

Government Transparency

Financial Integrity

MEET SANDRA VASECKA

My name is Sandra Vasecka, and I am currently on the Missoula City Council representing Ward 6. I graduated from Sentinel High School and attended Montana State University where I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in both Business Management and Business Marketing, with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management. I was also honored to serve as President of the MSU Toastmasters Club.

In addition to serving on Council, I work part time as an executive assistant at Jacobsen Insurance Agency. In my free time I love volunteering for my community and playing games in the sun with my husband, a small business owner, and our handsome boy who just turned 2!

While sending in my ballot in 2015, I noticed they needed election judges, so I signed up right away. The days were long but it was a great experience seeing the election process first hand, and I met so many wonderful community members who also love to help Missoula any way they can.

After a few years, I had to "hang up my vest" because I was going to be on the ballot when I ran for City Council in 2019.

City Council is a bird's eye view of everything that happens in the city, so I wanted to get my boots on the ground to see where your tax dollars are actually going. I was able to go on a ride along with both the police department, and the fire department.

In May of 2020, I helped with The Great Montana Veteran Hand Sanitizer and Potato Giveaway, where local Montana farmers and distilleries donated potatoes and hand sanitizer to give to anyone in the community. For our Missoula location, we handed out over 33,000 pounds of potatoes, and about 1,500 bottles of hand sanitizer! Click here to see the news report.

Red Sand Event.jpg

When I took the Citizen's Law Enforcement Academy, I was shocked to hear how prevalent human trafficking is in our hometown of Missoula, MT.

There was no official board on the City Council to address this, so I took it upon myself to become the unofficial liaison between the Missoula County Human Trafficking Task Force and the Missoula City Council.

These pictures are from the April 2022 Red Sand Event on Higgins. Bystanders were invited to pour red sand in the cracks of the sidewalks to bring awareness to those who "fall through the cracks" due to human trafficking. If you look on the middle left, you can see where my 1 year old tried to help by spreading it all around!
